Colorado Psychedelic Practitioners Cohort
DMT facilitator training
Science-Based
Where other programs center on shamanic and mystical traditions, The CPPC DMT Certification is grounded in science.
Experiential
With this program, every participant will experience DMT as a participant, observer, and facilitator, gaining hands-on experience, not simply academic or theoretical.
Peer-Led
Each participant will have an opportunity to act as a guide or facilitator through the program, getting organized feedback from their peers to hone their craft.
With the legalization of DMT in Colorado, there is enormous opportunity to leverage DMT for personal exploration, recreation, and mental health.
The Colorado Psychedelic Facilitators Cohort is offering a 5-part DMT Certification program, teaching participants how to make and administer various forms of DMT, including ayahuasca, freebase DMT, and “pharmahuasca”.
Each phase of the program includes a mix of in-person, virtual, and experiential workdays, some of which must be experienced live and in-person, with hands-on, experiential opportunities to prepare you for facilitating DMT experiences.
2025 DMT Facilitators Training
FIVE MODULES
Phase 1: DMT Legalities & Basics
Learn the legalities and basics of DMT for Personal Use, Psychedelic Facilitation and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy. We will introduce the differences between sitting, guiding, and PAT, while teaching some of the foundational practices required for each, culminating with observing participants in DMT sessions.
Presenters: Josie Kins, Emily McIntyre, Tony Shawcross
Phase 2: Pharmacology of DMT
Though DMT is not as well researched as other drugs, we will cover the resources that exist for reliable data and research around DMT use. Here, we will also compare and contrast oral, sublingual, and freebase DMT and explore the impact of MonoAmine Oxidase Inhibitors on DMT with experiential sessions.
Presenters: Adam Sheppard, Ben Malcolm, Tony Shawcross
Phase 3: DMT & Aya Preparation & Extraction
Participants will learn various techniques for preparing and extracting Ayahuasca and DMT from a range of plants for different modes of ingestion. Each participant will select two forms of preparation/extraction and will host a ceremony and/or PAT session in which their prepared plant medicine is ingested.
Phase 4: DMT & Aya Ceremony Facilitation
The first level of Certification as a DMT facilitator focuses on ceremony facilitation. We discuss pitfalls of projection and the importance of set & setting. The certification program culminates with three 1-day ceremonies in Denver and a 6-day ceremony in Costa Rica.
Phase 5: DMT-Assisted-Psychotherapy
The final, optional step is certification in Trauma-focused DMT Assisted Therapy. Students must be recommended for this step, which requires significantly more training than hosting ceremonies or tripsitting. Graduates are required to participate in at least 10 total sessions, with a minimum of 3 as a patient, 3 as an observer, and 3 as a therapist, among other trainings in various psychotherapy modalities that are well-suited for use with DMT.
The Training
Training Structure
The Colorado Psychedelic Facilitators Cohort is offering a 5-part DMT Certification program, teaching participants how to make and administer various forms of DMT, including ayahuasca, freebase DMT, and “pharmahuasca”.
The program provides hands-on, experiential opportunities to prepare participants for facilitating DMT experiences. Each Phase of the program includes a mix of in-person, virtual, and experiential workdays, some of which must be experienced live and in-person.
Unlike most programs, the CPFC DMT Certification gives participants an opportunity to directly guide and host sessions and ceremonies with DMT that they extracted or prepared themselves. Where other programs have little or no experiential components, this program commits to a minimum of a 2:1 experiential ratio, meaning we guarantee students will spend at least twice as much time practicing as they spend watching presentations or lectures.
Disclaimer: The Colorado Psychedelic Facilitators Cohort does not support or condone the use of DMT where not legal.
